Wuthering Heights FRPG
“I have dreamt in my life, dreams that have stayed with me ever after, and changed my ideas; they have gone through and through me, like wine through water, and altered the color of my mind. And this is one: I'm going to tell it - but take care not to smile at any part of it.”
What you see here is an attempt to create a message board for a Play-by-Post Game ('PbPG', a.k.a. Forum Role-Playing Game, or 'FRPG'). The idea of such a board requires users ('players') to interact with each other in a pre-defined environment via text. As the wikipedia page linked above mentions, this kind of board messaging is closely related to collaborative creative writing.
For this FRPG to work properly the website would need several topics where users could post their entries (usually those signify several different locations in the game environment). The ones I've created specifically for demonstration purposes can be found under the Entrance bookmark.
As you can see from the overall design and the few locations available through the "Entrance", the theme I chose was Emily Brontë's "Wuthering Heights". My aim was to just demonstrate the overall idea of forum role-playing games and message boards tailored specifically to them, but the narrative, in my opinion, lends itself well to this kind of interpretation (all the drama, all the graves!). And besides, it's public domain :)
